The top-level, original, VergeIO Cloud - Virtual Data Center (VDC) that is created during the initial VergeIO install on physical hardware. The Host can then create Tenants and those Tenants can create their own Tenants. Although every Tenant has a completely functional VDC of its own, the Host is the only one that has access to the physical hardware. The Host is sometimes referred to as the core VDC.
A Tenant is a completely separate instance of a Virtual Data Center, running its own instance of VergeOS. Each Tenant is a complete VergeIO Cloud with its own storage, networking, and security. Tenants are isolated from each other and each can be autonomously managed. This provides the mechanism for service providers or IT departments to allocate and administer resources dynamically, keeping autonomous units for different customers/business groups.
The VergeIO Cloud that directly owns your Tenant is referred to as your VergeIO Service Provider or Service Provider.
Whenever a new Tenant is created, VergeIO automatically creates a vnet for that Tenant that acts as it's core network. From the Service Provider’s perspective, this is a special type of Internal Network.
A unique feature of VergeIO software that allows for different levels of tenancy. The Host Tenant can allocate any portion of its base resources to child Tenants and those child Tenants can then divide and apportion any of its own resources down to Child Tenants and so forth.
Every Tenant runs on one or more Tenant Nodes, which are virtual representations of VergeIO physical nodes.
A customizable template for creating a new Tenant instance. A Tenant Recipe can include predefined settings for configuration and resource allocation as well as VMs/VM Recipes. Custom fields can be defined for the Tenant Recipe to allow for gathering input at the time the Recipe is consumed to customize each new instance created.
