¶ Managing Media & Uploading Files to the VergeIO Virtual SAN (vSAN)
¶ Media Images
Files can be uploaded to the VergeIO vSAN to be accessible for creating VMs: ISO files, drive images, VM definition files, etc.
Additional reasons for uploading files to the vSAN include UI branding (custom Logo, .jpg, or .png) and providing files to your Tenants.
The Media Images Section is where file administration is handled. (uploading, downloading, deleting, viewing system references) To access it, click Media Images on the left menu of your Main Dashboard.
- Type - The file type (.iso, .raw, .png, etc.)
- Name - The name given to the file during the upload process.
- Size - The size of file.
- Modified - The date that the file was last modified. This is not necessarily the date of upload.
- Preferred Tier - The default media file tier of the file at the time of the upload. The “Default media file tier” setting exists under System > Settings. The default value is 4 for media files.
¶ Uploading Files to the vSAN
There are two ways to upload files through Media Images.
¶ 1. Upload - Uploading a file from a local computer
- Navigate to the Cloud Dashboard > Media Images and select Upload.
- Click the Choose Files button. A file browser dialog box will appear.
- Browse to the file location and select the desired files.
- Click the Open button from the file browser dialog box to add the files to the VergeIO Upload Files screen. The Filenames along with Size and Type are displayed.
- Click the Upload button.
NOTE: Holding down the Ctrl or Shift key allows for multiple selection of files.
An Upload Progress pop-up window will appear showing the upload progress. From this window, the upload can be canceled or paused if needed. When the upload operation is complete, the file(s) will display in green in the Upload Progress pop-up.
NOTE: Reloading the browser window or leaving the page will interfere with the file upload.
¶ 2. Upload from URL (web link)
Navigate to the Cloud Dashboard navigation bar > Media Images and select Upload from URL.

Enter a valid URL in the URL download textbox (for example, https://fedorapeople.org/groups/virt/virtio-win/direct-downloads/stable-virtio/virtio-win.iso and the desired name for the file (File Name) along with file type.

Click the Submit button
- The file will appear in the Media Images listing.
NOTE: Reloading the browser window or leaving the page will interfere with the file upload.
